Local and State
Regulations

of homes in our area rely on Septic Systems

As communities grow more crowded and the awareness of the impact of one home upon another grows, regulatory authorities have begun to pay more  attention to proper maintenance of each individual property.
One factor under scrutiny is the septic system. Rather than leave it up  to the home owner to decide how often to clean and pump a system, a growing number of municipalities are imposing requirements. In addition, state laws are becoming more stringent. If an existing system fails, or in the building of new homes, some states have begun imposing tighter  regulations on the types of systems allowed.

70%+

Nationwide about 25% of all homes rely on a septic system. With so many  systems in constant use and most of them older models of inferior design, fear has been mounting that improperly maintained systems will  pollute groundwater supplies or that the health of one's own family could be jeopardized.

On the local level, some individual communities are starting to enact regulations. Brookfield, CT, for example, passed an ordinance in 1985 requiring the inspection of every home with a septic system, once every four years.

On the state level, Connecticut passed legislation in 1989 requiring the replacement of any failed tank with a more sophisticated, more  expensive two-compartment tank.

TERRALIFT SERVICES

Rejuvenate your Septic Field with our Terralift Technology

Terralift is a patented system that represents a technological breakthrough in soil restoration. It solves a number of problems with your septic system - including compaction, saturation and improper drainage almost immediately. It does not use chemicals and will not pollute your property. In just one day, you will be able to use your plumbing almost as soon as the operation is complete. Terralift will not disturb your lawn and can save you thousands of dollars.

Terralift uses a long, narrow probe and an integral pneumatic hammer to penetrate the soil to depths from three to six feet, depending upon the depth of the leach field. It then forces air into the soil at a controllable rate fracturing the soil. This creates a network of fissures and cracks which breaks up the biomat that has formed on the walls of the trenches, and loosens compact soil in the leach field.

Terralift adds a new dimension to the process by using a second tank and parallel system that simultaneously injects air and non-biodegradable polystyrene beads into the fissures and cracks that have been opened, thus maintaining the passages for the percolation of liquid away from the trenches.

Because air tends to follow the path of least resistance, both the air and the beads will move horizontally and vertically upward through the soil. The beads will keep the air and water passages open to ensure proper leaching and transpiration on a long term basis.

Depending upon soil conditions, the operation is repeated every four to six feet around each of the leach field trenches.

Call us today to see if our Terralift Drainfield Rejuvenation is right for your system.
